Man dies in Kildare road accident

A man in his 30s has been killed after he was hit by a car in Co. Kildare.

The incident happened shortly before 10pm last night on the R403 at Baybush in Straffan.

The road is currently closed while Gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene.

Gardaí in Clane are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It brings to six the number of people killed on the country's roads over the Christmas period.
