Fire brigade warns of cigarette dangers over Christmas

Fire brigade personnel have warned people to observe basic safety measures to avoid tragedy over the festive period.
Unattended candles and fairy lights can spark fires which can easily get out of control.
Adrian Sutton, District Officer with Dublin Fire Brigade, advised particular care with lit cigarettes.
"If you do smoke, and a lot of people smoke in bed, make sure you have an ashtray on the bedside locker and remember to extinguish the cigarette in it.
The safest thing for smokers is to ensure they only smoke outdoors, so that cigarettes pose much less of a fire hazard, Mr Sutton said.
