SIPTU's O'Connor visits sit-in Vita Cortex crew
SIPTU president Jack O'Connor has visited workers at the Vita Cortex plant in Cork this Christmas Eve as they continue their sit-in.
Some 27 staff have occupied the foam manufacturing plant on the Kinsale Road since the company closed last Friday, leaving them without any redundancy payments.
The workers have rejected as "insulting" an offer of €1,500 each, saying it amounts to less than 4% of what is owed to them.
Jack O'Connor has warned that SIPTU will mobilise all of its members unless management at the firm step up to meet their obligations for redundancy pay.
