The stash was found concealed in a UK-registered car which was on a low-loader when it was shipped into the country.

A Revenue spokeswoman said Customs officers, assisted by Dublin Port Security, seized three firearms, two of which were loaded, a quantity of ammunition and 1.5kg (3.3lb) of cannabis.

The firearms, which included a Glock, a Sig and 38 Special, are undergoing forensic analysis.

No arrests have been made.

“Follow-up inquiries are being conducted by gardaí at Store Street garda station and investigations are ongoing,” the spokeswoman added.
