A 39-year-old woman has appeared in court in Dublin charged with assaulting her father 23 years ago with intent to murder.

Sharon Cullen was arrested at Ballyjamesduff yesterday following a cold case review into the attempted murder of Christopher Payne at his home in Rutland Grove, Crumlin in May 1988.

Dublin District Court heard she made no reply when two charges were put to her at Crumlin Garda Station.

The DPP has directed trial on indictment at the Central Criminal Court.

She has been granted bail and will appear in court again on January 17.
