Central Bank denies reports of possible ban on variable rate mortgages

The Central Bank has poured cold water over suggestions that it is considering banning variable rate mortgages for future customers.

It was reported earlier that the move was being examined in order to avoid the difficulty for homeowners in Ireland when the ECB changes interest rates.
