Nine TDs call on public to resist household charge

The total number of TDs who have called on the public not to pay the household charge is now at nine.

The €100 euro levy was introduced in the recent Budget, but is facing stiff opposition.

A campaign to boycott the charge is being launched this morning.

Socialist Party TDs Clare Daly and Joe Higgins; Seamus Healy, Richard Boyd Barrett and Joan Collins of the United Left Alliance; and Independent TDs Thomas Pringle, Mick Wallace, John Halligan and Luke 'Ming' Flanagan are all supporting the campaign.
