Man in hospital after serious assault in Dublin

A man is fighting for life today after a serious assault in Dublin.

The man, who is aged in his 20s, was found with serious injures on waste ground, close to the Royal Canal at the rear of Shandon Park at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital where his condition today is still described as critical.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the assault, or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 9am and 3.30pm yesterday, to contact them.
