Up to a thousand people attended a public meeting in Donegal last night as protests continue over the threatened closure of Lifford hospital.

Hospital staff, local politicians and hundreds of members of the community packed out the local Community Centre on a bitterly cold night.

Last month an internal HSE document was leaked, which listed Lifford as one of a number of community hospitals and facilities in Donegal which are currently under review.

Lifford was the only Community Hospital in Co Donegal identified for closure, and just this week the Health Minister said any Community Hospital with under 50 beds could close.
