For Eff's sake - locals petition Facebook to recognise Limerick town
A woman from Effin in Co Limerick has started an online campaign to have the place name recognised on Facebook.
Attempts by locals to list their hometown on their Facebook page have been blocked by the social networking site, which had initially deemed the word 'Effin' offensive.
Anne Marie Kennedy said Facebook had given a reason for not allowing the name to be used, but she's not buying it.
"They've said Effin is too small and I don't agree with that. It's got a population of 1,000, two churches and a factory that makes and sells Effin cheese," she said.
