Majority of employed concerned about losing job, says survey

Almost six out of 10 Irish people have experienced serious concern about the prospect of losing their job over the past year, it has been claimed today.

A survey of 1,000 people by Jobs Expo 2012 found that 59% of respondents have experienced serious concern about losing their job, with 58% of respondents having taken a pay cut.

More than half considered emigrating at some stage during the same period.

The top five countries identified as offering the most attractive emigration prospects are Australia, Canada, UK, the US and New Zealand.

The jobs Expo takes place in Dublin in January. Organisers say thousands of Irish and overseas jobs will be on offer in a range of professions.
