Varadkar hopes for new-year introduction of drug-driving test
The Transport Minister is hoping to see new drug-driving tests rolled out in the new year.
Leo Varadkar has said legislation is currently being drafted that will see drivers asked to perform tasks at the roadside so that gardaà can determine whether they may be under the influence of drugs.
Any driver who fails the test, or appears to be on drugs, will be arrested and brought to a garda station.
Members of the force have been undergoing training for some time to prepare for the introduction of the new test.
