Residents of the Dublin suburb of Clontarf are making their voices heard tpdau in opposition to a flood defence plan which they say is wrong for the local seafront.

Dublin City Council has proposed an 8' barrier the length of the promenade but have met with opposition as their plans are seen as excessive.

At 4pm today residents - joined by celebrities such as Cian Healy, Níall Tóibín and Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter - will walk from the Alfie Byrne road end of the prom to the rugby club.

The plan is for multiple submissions to be handed in to Dublin City Council for alternate flood defence plans.
