Gardaí seize €600k drugs haul in Portlaoise

Two men have been arrested after gardaí in Portlaoise seized drugs with an estimated street value of up to €600,000, it has been revealed.

The seizure was made after gardaí stopped and searched a van on Grattan Street in the town at around 3.30pm yesterday.

An amount of cocaine and cannabis herb was seized and the two males in their 30s were arrested and brought to Portlaoise Garda Station.

In a follow up search later in the evening at a premises on Factory Lane, Portlaoise, further amounts of cocaine and cannabis herb were seized.

In total, drugs with an estimated street value of up to €600,000 were seized.

The two men arrested remain detained at Portlaoise Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
