Wallace wants Dáil break to see Euro 2012
An Opposition TD has today called on the Government to put the Dáil into recess during the Euro 2012 Finals next year.
Wexford TD Mick Wallace said the six-week summer break should be re-organised to allow TDs to share in Ireland's success in getting to the finals in Poland and Ukraine.
Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said the holidays would not be changed and TDs would have to watch the games on TV.
"There used to be a time when Opposition Deputies were complaining about the length of the summer leave, this is certainly a first that we have got a request to extend it," said Mr Gilmore.
"We'll keep our nose to the grindstone here dealing with the issues of the people, and we'll have to watch the games on the telly, Mick."
