Nine-year-old girl killed in road accident

A nine-year-old girl has died in a road accident at Blessington, Co Wicklow.

It happened shortly before 6pm this evening, on the N81.

The child was hit by a car and was taken to Naas General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Gardaí have closed part of the N81 Baltinglass Rd at Blessington for a forensic collision examination.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
