Jury finds man guilty of Clontarf murder

A 30-year-old Dublin man has been convicted of murdering a man who was shot 11 times in a Clontarf apartment building.

Michael Taylor of Summerhill will be formally sentenced to life later this month for killing Paul Kelly on April 6, 2007 at Winston Ville apartments on Charlemont Road.

Taylor shook his head moments after the 10 to two majority murder verdict was handed down by the jury who had spent nearly five and a half hours deliberating.

The court heard a feud led to 26-year-old Paul Kelly's death and that he died as a result of catastrophic injuries from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was gunned down by two masked men and his body was found slumped on the floor inside the entrance to Winston Ville apartments in Clontarf.

The prosecution relied heavily on mobile phone evidence in its case against Taylor.

The accused is facing the mandatory life behind bars for murder but he will not be formally sentenced until later this month when victim impact evidence will be heard.
