The Reverend Ian Paisley is to stand down from his ministry in the Free Presbyterian church at the end of the year.

The Reverend Ian Paisley is to stand down from his ministry in the Free Presbyterian church at the end of the year.

Dr Paisley, who is 85, made the announcement to his congregation at the Martyrs Memorial in East Belfast this morning.

The former DUP leader and First Minister, who is now Baron Bannside in the House of Lords, is writing his autobiography.

He helped found the evangelical church in 1951.
