Two Irish activists detained in Israel for second time

Two Irish activists, due to return to Ireland after they were detained in Israel, have been prevented from leaving the country for a second time this evening.

Irish Ship to Gaza co-ordinator Fintan Lane and lecturer Zoe Lawlor were part of a group of 14 activists imprisoned on Friday after they attempted to enter Gaza.

Five of the group are now expected to arrive into Dublin Airport late tonight after also being turned away from an earlier flight home.

A further seven are due to be released tomorrow.

The Israeli embassy has said the activists committed an illegal act and therefore had to be detained.
