Gardaí find assaulted woman in Clare body investigation

Gardaí have launched an investigation after the body of a man in his 40s was discovered in the sea at the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare yesterday.

The man's body has now been taken to the Mid Western Regional in Limerick, where a post mortem examination will be conducted later.

In trying to establish the identity of the man, Gardaí in Roscommon searched a house at Anvil Court this morning and discovered a female in her 50s who had been assaulted.

She is now receiving treatment at Portiuncula Hospital, in Ballinasloe.

Gardaí have said both matters are being investigated.
