Last day in office for President McAleese

It is Mary McAleese's last day as the President of Ireland. Tomorrow, Ireland's ninth President Michael D Higgins will be inaugurated as her successor.

The 60-year-old Prof McAleese has spent the last 14 years in office.

She will go down in history as being the first Irish President to welcome a British Monarch to the Republic.
