Three Irish MEPs have called on the Government to reconsider the appointment of the head of the Department of Finance, Kevin Cardiff, to the vacant position on the European Court of Auditors.

The Cabinet has selected Mr Cardiff for the job, but he is in hot water over the controversy surrounding the €3.6bn accounting error discovered last week.
