Dublin murder trial: Victim 'would have died instantly' after shot to neck

A murder trial has heard a man would have died almost instantly after he was shot in the neck while out walking with his girlfriend and two children.

Twenty-three-year-old Keith Wilson of Cremona Road, Ballyfermot in Dublin denies the murder of Daniel Gaynor at Saint Helena's Road in Finglas on August 14 last year.

The jury heard Mr Gaynor was fatally shot around teatime that evening while walking towards Tolka Valley Park with his girlfriend and two children.

The State said the assailant, wearing white magician’s gloves, discharged three shots.

A gun, a white glove, a hat and a hoody were found discarded nearby

It is the prosecution’s case that Keith Wilson’s DNA matches the DNA profile on these four items.

Today deputy state pathologist Dr Khalid Jabbar told the jury Daniel Gaynor died from a single penetrating gunshot wound to the neck and that death would have been almost instantaneous.
