Gallagher: Morgan claim 'completely at odds' with McGuinness

Presidential candidate Sean Gallagher has said the contents of Hugh Morgan's statement is "completely at odds" with what he is alleged to have told fellow candidate Martin McGuinness.

Mr Morgan, the man who made the donation to Fianna Fáil, issued a statement saying Mr Gallagher phoned him to invite him to a fundraising dinner for the party.

Mr Morgan said, during the call on June 6, 2008, Mr Gallagher also requested a €5,000 donation, telling him that in return he would have a private audience with the then taoiseach Brian Cowen and a photograph to mark the event.

Mr Morgan said that he handed over the cheque when Mr Gallagher visited his business premises in Co. Armagh.
