Man dies in Galway fire

A man in his 40s has died following a fire at his home in Co Galway.

The fire broke at the house on the outskirts of Barna between 2am and 3am this morning.

His body remains at the scene and will be taken to University Hospital Galway later for a post mortem examination.

A woman who was also in the house at the time has been taken to hospital and is being treated for smoke inhalation.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Salthill Garda station
