Davis has 'second thoughts' on offering 100% mortgages

Independent Presidential candidate Mary Davis admitted today she might think twice before getting involved with promoting 100% mortgages.

She was responding to a question about her involvement with the board of a building society that offered the financial product to customers.

Ms Davis sat on the board of ICS building society, a subsidiary of Bank of Ireland, for six years and she was on the board when ICS introduced the home loans in 2005.

Mary Davis told Clare FM today that she takes collective responsibility for the ICS decision on 100% mortgages.

Ms Davis said: "I think in retrospect anyone would have said getting involved with 100% mortgages was difficult.

"Of course if we knew then what we know now, it would be very different."
