Two remanded after Cork cocaine haul
Two men have been remanded in custody, charged in connection with a drugs seizure in Cork on Thursday worth more than €5m.
Forty-five-year-old Sean O'Donovan and 56-year-old Richard Deutschenbauer were both charged with two offences in relation to the 80kg seizure by gardaí in Bartlemy.
Sean O'Donovan from Ballinakilla in Bartlemy and German national Richard Deutschenbauer - with an address at Alingas in Sweden - were both charged with possession and possession for sale or supply of drugs at Ballinakilla, Bartlemy on Oct 13.
Detective Seargant Sean Leahy told a special sitting of Fermoy district court that Deutschenbauer made no reply when the two charges were put to him after caution.
Detective Garda Damien O'Farrell of the Garda National drugs Unit gave similar evidence in respect of Sean O'Donovan.
Inspector Tony O'Sullivan said gardaí were objecting to bail but solicitor for both accused Ken Murray said his clients were reserving their position on bail and making no application today.
Judge Olann Kelleher remanded both accused in custody to appear again at Fermoy district court next Friday.
