President Mary McAleese will visit Camp Shamrock in the Lebanon this morning to visit peace-keeping troops and present medals to 72 personnel on their first overseas mission.

President Mary McAleese will visit Camp Shamrock in the Lebanon this morning to visit peace-keeping troops and present medals to 72 personnel on their first overseas mission.

It is Prof McAleese's final overseas trip as President.

After the Camp Shamrock visit, Prof McAleese will then travel to Tibnin to visit an Irish-supported orphanage, where Irish soldiers provide English lessons.

President McAleese will also lay a wreath at the Irish UNFIL memorial in Tibnin to honour 47 Irish soldiers who have lost their lives while on peace-keeping duties.
