A 23-year-old man has appeared before Limerick District Court charged with murdering his father.

A 23-year-old man has appeared before Limerick District Court charged with murdering his father.

Ger McNamara, of Cedar Court, Kennedy Park, Limerick, was charged with murdering Joseph O'Donnell, of Hyde Road in October last year.

Mr O'Donnell died after sustaining serious head injuries during an attack with a blunt object.

The accused, who is unemployed, was granted free legal aid and remanded in custody to appear before the court again on October 18 via video-link.
