The Army bomb disposal team has made safe an improvised bomb and a quantity of dangerous chemicals discovered at two separate locations in Dublin today.

The Army bomb disposal team has made safe an improvised bomb and a quantity of dangerous chemicals discovered at two separate locations in Dublin today.

A viable device was found outside a private residence in Newbury Heights, Clonshaughat around 2.30pm.

It has now been handed over to the Gardaí for further investigation.

Later at 3.30pm, a quantity of picric acid, which had become unstable, was removed from St Mary's Hospital in the Phoenix Park.

Gardaí are investigating both incidents.
