TalkTalk facility closes in Waterford

The TalkTalk customer support centre in Waterford closes today with the loss of 575 jobs.

In a huge blow to the south east, the company announced last month the closure of its Waterford operation giving just 30 days notice.

Efforts to get the company to extend the notice period were refused.

Staff have been offered redundancy of four-and-a-half weeks pay per year of service, including their statutory entitlements of two weeks.

Applications have now been made for EU funding for retraining support for those who have lost their jobs.
