Offaly man dies at Ghana mine

An Offaly man has died in a mining accident in Africa, it has emerged.

Details of the incident remain unclear, but it happened within the past couple of days in Ghana.

The married father-of-two is originally from the Edenderry area in Offaly but had moved to the Ballymore area of Westmeath.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the man's family through its embassy in Nigeria.
