Govt considers redrafting data protection laws in welfare crackdown

It is reported that ministers are considering redrafting laws to allow Government departments to share information in order to crack down on welfare cheats.

At the moment data protection laws mean that even if one department has useful information that could help another to expose fraud it cannot be passed on.
