Elderly woman assaulted in North

A woman aged in her 80s suffered cuts and bruising after she was assaulted in her north Belfast home.

Two youths entered the Agnes Street house last night. It is unclear if anything was stolen.

A police spokeswoman said: “The woman was taken to hospital and treated for cuts and bruising, and was left badly shaken.”

Meanwhile in Belfast this morning police and army bomb experts were attending a security alert at Bradbury Place near the city centre.

The area was cordoned off and diversions were put in place.
