Norris: I am legally prevented from publishing clemency letters
Senator David Norris has said he is legally prevented from publishing the letters of clemency he wrote on behalf of his former partner, who was accused of statuary rape.
The Presidential candidate said his lawyers had advised him there are issues of privacy and confidentiality which make it legally impossible for him to reveal the contents of the letters.
He made the remarks at the Customs House in Dublin where he lodged his presidential nomination papers today.
Nominations have just closed for the Presidential race, with seven candidates in the field - Sen Norris, Michael D Higgins, Mary Davis, Sean Gallagher, Gay Mitchell, Dana and Martin McGuinness.
