Group calls for ban on looped-cord blinds
The Irish Association of Emergency Medicine (IAEM) is calling on the Government to introduce a ban on looped-cord blinds.
It follows the death of a toddler earlier this year, who was strangled by a looped-cord blind in his home.
The group says that despite standards being introduced on both a national and European level, tragedies are still occurring and therefore an outright ban should be implemented.
The IAEM is advising parents of young children not to purchase looped-cord blinds, but if they are already in the home, cut the loop, to make it safer.
