Davis refuses to ask Limerick council to free up vote

Presidential candidate Mary Davis says she will not be asking Limerick County Council to free up their vote for Dana or David Norris next week.

Presidential candidate Mary Davis says she will not be asking Limerick County Council to free up their vote for Dana or David Norris next week.

Ms Davis has 12 County Councils backing her, but she is still asking Limerick to nominate her, even though she only needs the support of four local authorities.

Her rival Sean Gallagher asked a number of councils to consider supporting other candidates once he had received the backing of four councils.

He said it was the right thing to do in the interests of democracy.
