Nurses to stage work stoppage at Limerick hospital

Nurses at the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick will today stage a four-hour work stoppage in protest at conditions in the hospital's emergency department.
Members of the INMO and Siptu will withdraw from their duties between 1pm and 5pm to highlight concerns about staffing levels and overcrowding at the department.
The HSE has appealed to the nurses to call off the action, saying it poses "a threat to patient safety".
However, Industrial Relations Officer with the Irish Nurses and Midwives organisation, Mary Fogarty, has insisted that an adequate nursing presence will be in place.
