Gardaí launch murder inquiry in Dublin

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation after a man in his early 30s was shot dead in Dublin.

Two men shot the father of one several times outside an apartment complex on Marrsfield Avenue in Clongriffin shortly after 1pm this afternoon.

A silver Saab car, believed to have been used by the gunmen, was found in the Clonshaugh area a short time later.

Gardaí are denying reports that there was an exchange of gunfire between the attackers and the victim who is understood to have been a recent target of the Criminal Assets Bureau.

Superintendent Mark Curran from Coolock Garda Station, who is leading the inquiry, has said it was a "callous shooting".
