New scheme to prevent gas and electricity subscribers being cut off

Electricity and gas customers who are having trouble paying their bills will not be disconnected this winter under the terms of a new initiative announced by Energy Minister Pat Rabbitte this morning.

Minister Rabbitte has said that any customer who has entered a payment plan or installed a pay-as-you-go meter with their provider will not be cut off under the new agreement.
