Irish man feared dead as Hurricane Katia hits US
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is providing consular assistance to the family of an Irish man feared to be the first fatality due to Hurricane Katia in the US.
Thomas Clarke, 33, from Co Cavan was hit by a giant wave and swept out to sea while sightseeing in Maine on Friday.
A search and rescue operation for Mr Clarke continued over the weekend, but officials now say they presume he is dead.
He is believed to be the first victim of Hurricane Katia.
