McGrath 'mortified' recording new album

Former Republic of Ireland defender Paul McGrath has said he felt "mortified" going into the studio to record songs for his new album.

McGrath releases an album of cover versions for charity this month. He told Phantom 105.2 that although he has previously sung on Cup Final songs, going it alone was a different proposition.

"It's totally different doing it on your own, mortifying doing it on your own…I couldn’t have anyone else in the studio with me (other than the technical man)," he said.

He can’t imagine "in a million years" performing the songs live on stage, however.
