Man shot dead at halting site in Ballymun

A 49-year-old man has been shot dead in a gun attack on a halting site.

The man was gunned down at a Traveller encampment known as St Margaret’s in the Ballymun area of north Dublin.

A second crime scene was sealed off after a burnt out car believed to have been used in the attack was discovered at Mayeston on St Margaret’s Road.

The shooting took place at 9.50pm last night.

The man was rushed to the Mater Hospital where he died from his injuries.
