Two men are still being questioned by gardaí after yesterday's discovery of a cross-border fuel-laundering operation.

Two men are still being questioned by gardaí after yesterday's discovery of a cross-border fuel-laundering operation.

They were among a group of four detained following a series of searches at filling stations in counties Dublin, Galway, Westmeath, Offaly and Roscommon. An oil-laundering plant was also discovered in Co Monaghan.

A man in his 20s who was being questioned at Monaghan garda station has been released. A man in his 30s is still in custody there.

A man in his 40s has also been released by gardaí at Tullamore, while another man in his 40s is still detained at Roscommon station.
