Lung cancer overtakes breast cancer as leading fatal cancer in women
The number of cases of cancer diagnosed in Ireland each year has risen by more than 50% since the mid 1990s, largely due to the ageing profile of the population.
Most cases of cancer occur in the over-65s. The risk of getting cancer has not increased.
