Cork man in court on fraud charges

A Cork man has been charged with 48 offences of fraud which amounted to a total of over €142,000.

A Cork man has been charged with 48 offences of fraud which amounted to a total of over €142,000.

Karl McCaughley of 12 Kilmore Woods, Ballinspittle was brought before Cork District Court this morning after being arrested, charged and cautioned at Anglesea Street Garda Station.

The 39-year old is facing 48 charges of theft, deception and forgery in Cork city.

The total amount of money lost is €142,624.

He made no reply after caution.

Gardaí made no objection to the accused being remanded on bail and Judge Olann Kelleher remanded him on his own bond of €400 to appear again in court on the September 21.

The charges arise out of a lengthy investigation which began following complaints received by gardaí in 2009
