Three still in hospital after fatal Kilkenny crash
Three people remain in hospital this morning after a crash in Co. Kilkenny yesterday which claimed the lives of a man and a woman.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses following the two- vehicle collision which happened at about about 6.45pm yesterday evening at Troyswood on the Kilkenny to Freshford Road.
One of the vehicles involved had three occupants - a 65-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene, a 61-year-old woman who was brought to St Lukes hospital in Kilkenny, where she was also pronounced dead - and a third person, a woman who is now being treated for serious injuries at St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny.
There were two people in the other car, both of whom were transferred to hospital,also with serious injuries.
The road was sealed off last night as forensic tests were carried out to establish to cause of the crash. Investigating officers say they expect it will remain shut for a time this morning.
Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision - or anyone with information - to come forward.
