Gardaí fire on suspect's car

Armed gardaí opened fire on a car carrying suspected members of a crime gang after the driver refused to stop.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and a gun and cash recovered from a second car stopped yesterday on country roads outside Ballymore Eustace on the Wicklow-Kildare border.
