The General Secretary of the Teacher's Union of Ireland has strongly denied claims made by the Comptroller and Auditor General that the teachers' supervision scheme is not properly monitored - and therefore likely to be abused.

At the moment, a teacher receives an extra €1,769 a year if they agree to carry out supervision during lunchtime breaks or if another teacher is absent.
