Roscommon protest ends

An overnight sit-in at the Urgent Care Centre in Roscommon County Hospital has now come to an end.

At least 50 people stayed in the waiting room of the centre from 8pm last night until 9am this morning to protest against the downgrading of 24 -hour emergency services.

Last night, about 300 people held a candle-lit vigil outside the Accident and Emergency unit to highlight their concerns.

The Roscommon Hospital Action Group will now hold a march on Saturday in Boyle in north Roscommon.
